#StrangeLit: Let’s write Paranormal/PNR/Urban Fantasy with buqo

Please read this before signing up!

It will run from August 1 to September 5, 2015. No new signups will be accepted after June 30.

Work produced in this class is copyright author. The class will be FREE for participants who will be able to enter a publishing or distribution agreement with the sponsor, ebook retailer buqo. (Details will be sent in the first email.)

Those who do not wish to enter an agreement with the sponsor may still participate but pay a CLASS FEE of P2,000.

It will be mostly online. Lessons will be sent to your email. Please regularly check the email address you provide in this form.

There will be two optional face-to-face classes in a location to be announced.

Participants are expected to write and submit an ORIGINAL Paranormal/Paranormal Romance or Urban Fantasy story minimum 5,000 words. All age groups (YA, NA, Adult) will be considered.

Steamy/sexy scenes optional.

English or Tagalog/Taglish will be accepted. Characters can be Filipino or non-Filipino. The setting can be the Philippines, or not the Philippines.

Mina V. Esguerra is organizing the class but she will not be the main lecturer. Lessons will be given by resource persons:

Like in other classes, there will be a “challenge” for the author in this one. Participants will have the option of leaving the class at any time, if they feel that they do not wish to write their story based on this format. Pre-written and unpublished manuscripts may be used in the class as long as they conform to the challenge given to the class.

Book Cover Prize

One of the submissions from the #StrangeLit workshop will be selected to win a free book cover design by Tania Arpa. This cover will be for both print book and ebook formats, and can be used by the author to self-publish/indie publish her story. Stories must be novella-length or novel-length to qualify, which means they must be 15,000 words long, or longer. Stories shorter than 15,000 words long will be accepted in the workshop but will not qualify for the book cover design prize.
